"The first St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Patton was erected in 1893, during the earliest inception of the town, and was intended only as a temporary place of worship until the growth of Patton should warrant a more commodious structure (the first structure was dismantled and relocated to become St. George Church). The laying of the corner stone, on the present building, was on May 22, 1898 which for the past 122 years has been named our Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary’s and now Queen of Peace. Prior to 1995, the Catholic community of the Patton area was comprised of three Churches:
St. Lawrence Church (1854-1995);
St. Mary’s Church (1898-1995); and
St. George Church (1907-1995).
Due to declining attendance and the shortage of Clergy to service the parishes, the Diocese of Altoona / Johnstown completed a Configuration program in 1995 and merged or closed many parishes. At that time these three parishes were merged and the building of worship for the combined parishes was selected as St. Mary’s Church.

At 12 Noon on June 29, 1995 St. Mary’s Church merged with St. George Church and St. Lawrence Church to become Queen of Peace Church."
