Ash Wednesday is when the Church begins the forty day journey towards the Triduum (The Three Days), with the annual discipline of fasting, & giving Alms. +++ Ash Wednesday & Good Friday (April 10) are days of fast & abstinence. All Fridays of Lent (February 28, March 6, 13, 20, 27, & April 3) are days of abstinence. Fasting refers to only one full meal, with two small meals & not eating otherwise for the day. Abstinence refers to not eating meat at all during the day. The Church directs the Holy Fast to all those in their 18th year until their 60th year (Canon 1252). +++ The ancient practice of fasting & abstaining can occur throughout other days in Lent. This is not obligatory & can take a variety of forms distinct from food. --Parish Bulletin, Feb. 26, 2020

Ignite Your Faith for Christ’s Mission launches today throughout our Diocese. During Lent & throughout the year, we are challenged to renew our spiritual devotions & duties – & one of those holy duties is to support the Church. +++ This drive focuses on a select group of ministries with emphasis on the poor, families, youth, seminarians, & leadership development of clergy and laity. All contributions received beyond our parish goal will be returned back to us. Thank you for supporting these vital ministries with sacrificial gifts of prayer & treasure. 100% of your donation goes directly to these ministries.
A Holy Conversations Meeting will be held on Tues., Feb. 18, immediately following morning Mass at 8:30 a.m. in the Spiritual Resource Room in the lower level of the Parish Center. (In case of inclement weather, we will reschedule). +++ As we enter the Lenten season, we reflect & meditate on Jesus’ life. This month’s meeting will present a short documentary about the place where it began. The house where our Blessed Mother once lived is still in existence today! You may learn things about “The Holy House of Loreto”, that you never knew. Let’s get together and have a chat about this. All are welcome! ~~Source for Image, "The Miracle of the Holy House of Loreto" by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo: http://www.getty.edu/art/collection/objects/875/giovanni-battista-tiepolo-the-miracle-of-the-holy-house-of-loreto-italian-1743/

Queen of Peace Parish is privileged to have a number of beautiful chalices for use in the Sacred Liturgy. Three of these are Silver & have reached the point of looking like pewter, as they are so tarnished & cannot be polished. +++ † The St. Lawrence Chalice dates from 1854. † The St. Boniface Chalice dates from 1866. † A third Chalice found in the basement of the Rectory was last re-plated in 2012. +++ We are praying that the faithful from Saints Lawrence & Boniface would consider donations to help reduce the cost of re-plating, which is $1,900 / per chalice! Any or all donations, no matter how large or small would be greatly appreciated. God Bless You.
